We're really mixed on this. This sandwich got a lot of hype from Adam Richman and other foodies on the Food Network, Travel Channel, etc. so our expectations were maybe a bit ridiculous. I mean, this sandwich was billed as the best sandwich in Philadelphia, the cheesesteak included. So we bought into the hype.
Don't get me wrong, the sandwich was good. Pork was fresh and juicy and amazing. The bun was great until it got soggy. The sharp provolone was really good stuff. So no real complaints other than the bun. Well until we got to the broccoli rabe. It wasn't overpowering but it was a little aggressive, more so then we anticipated. And the cheese wasn't quite melted in even though the pork was nice and hot. So, while the flavors, individually, were all working for us, except the extra bite of the broccoli, the flavors didn't meld together like we hoped for. We tasted them all individually which was a shame because it could have been much better.
Also, lines were long at Dinic's but they don't fuck around. People were getting through with the quickness, so huge props for that.
So I gotta say, while the sandwich was good and worth trying, when in Philly, stick with the king, eat the cheesesteak.
